The Tyrosinase Monoclonal Antibody (CAB21267) is a valuable tool for researchers studying the tyrosinase enzyme, which plays a key role in the production of melanin. This monoclonal antibody, produced in mice, is highly specific for detecting tyrosinase in human samples and is validated for use in various applications, including Western blot and immunohistochemistry.Tyrosinase is a critical enzyme in melanin synthesis, making it essential for processes such as skin pigmentation and hair color. Dysregulation of tyrosinase activity can lead to conditions like albinism or melanoma, underscoring the importance of studying this enzyme in both normal and pathological contexts.
By using the Tyrosinase Monoclonal Antibody, researchers can gain valuable insights into the expression and function of tyrosinase in different cell types and tissues. This antibody is a valuable tool for investigations into melanin production, skin biology, and diseases related to pigmentation abnormalities. Understanding the role of tyrosinase can lead to novel therapeutic approaches for disorders affecting pigmentation and melanin production.

The enzyme encoded by this gene catalyzes the first 2 steps, and at least 1 subsequent step, in the conversion of tyrosine to melanin. The enzyme has both tyrosine hydroxylase and dopa oxidase catalytic activities, and requires copper for function. Mutations in this gene result in oculocutaneous albinism, and nonpathologic polymorphisms result in skin pigmentation variation. The human genome contains a pseudogene similar to the 3' half of this gene.
