Our Story

    2013-2017

    The Spark!

In 2013, Colm and Seán recognized a gap in the market for better research tools and launched an assay website as an experiment. As interest grew, they expanded their offerings beyond cytotoxicity and autophagy kits, developing ELISA assays and collaborating with labs to create innovative solutions. After securing investment in London in 2016, they officially launched Assay Genie in March 2017. By the end of the year, researchers across Europe, the U.S., and Japan were using their products.

  • 2018

    Building Community

In 2018, Assay Genie celebrated its first year in business with major milestones. The team expanded its global reach by signing new distributor agreements, strengthening its network of partners. Researchers engaged with Assay Genie at conferences such as EACR Amsterdam and Alzheimer’s UK, while the launch of the ‘Cancer Research Club’ connected scientists from Oxford, Harvard, and beyond, fostering collaboration and innovation in the research community.

    2019

    Growing Connections & Going Green

In 2019, Assay Genie strengthened its research community and commitment to sustainability. The team presented its latest technology at GSK, while the Cancer Research Club continued to bring together top scientists. Assay Genie also made its mark at ELRIG, connecting with researchers at a major global event. Sustainability took center stage with the launch of an ice-pack recycling program for local labs and a transition to fully recyclable packaging for ELISA kits.

  • 2020

    Adapting to Change

2020 was a year like no other, and Assay Genie stepped up to support the global scientific community. The team developed a novel COVID-19 detection test and worked with researchers across the Middle East, Italy, China, and Japan to aid in the fight against the pandemic. Assay Genie also launched COVID-19 IgG/IgM tests, ensuring scientists had access to critical diagnostic tools. In a time of uncertainty, the rapid advancements in diagnostics and research served as a powerful reminder of how science drives progress when the world needs it most.

    2021

    Continuing the Mission

2021 was a milestone year for Assay Genie, as we were listed in the "Hot 100 Start-Ups" - a proud moment reflecting our journey from a small Irish business to a global supplier supporting researchers in over 50 countries. With new partnerships strengthening our reach in South Korea and beyond, the year reinforced our commitment to providing scientists with the tools they need to drive discovery forward.

  • 2022

    Strengthening the Team

In 2022, Assay Genie welcomed new team members across technical support and logistics to keep up with growing demand. With a bigger team came a bigger space, and the company moved into a new office to support its next stage of growth. Throughout the year, the team attended conferences across Europe, including the British Society for Immunology Conference (BSI 22), and cheered from the sidelines as Assay Genie became a proud sponsor of the local Cuala GAA team.

    2023

    Expanding Global Partnerships

In 2023, Assay Genie strengthened its global presence with new distribution agreements across Europe, Asia, and the Americas. The team traveled to Korea to support a growing market, hit the road to connect with researchers at local institutions, and showcased its innovations at conferences like Labvolution. The year also marked the launch of Assay Genie's In Vivo antibody range, expanding its offering for cutting-edge research.

  • 2024

    A Year of Champions!

Assay Genie had another whirlwind year in 2024, traveling the globe for international conferences and being named a finalist for 'Life Sciences Company of the Year – Small' at the Life Science Industry Awards. The team also hosted the first-ever European Pipetting Championship at BrewDog Dublin, bringing together scientists from across Europe for a night of competition, networking, and fun.

Researchers and companies worldwide trust Assay Genie for high-quality assays and reliable scientific insights. Explore our whitepapers to see how our products perform in real-world applications - from automating ELISA assays to assessing 3D organoid viability.
  • Automation of MR-proANP and MR-proADM ELISA Kits on Dynex DS2 Instrument

The Dynex DS2 is a fully automated ELISA processor that can handle up to two 96-well plates simultaneously. This platform automates key steps in ELISA assays, including sample addition, reagent pipetting, incubation, washing, and detection. For the MR-proANP and MR-proADM ELISA kits, automation on the Dynex DS2 ensures high precision, reduces manual handling errors, and allows for the efficient processing of multiple samples at once.

Comparison of Assay Genie Dual Luciferase Reporter Assay (MORV0010) vs Promega (E1910)

In luciferase-based assays, two critical performance parameters must be optimized: quenching efficiency and auto-luminescence. Quenching efficiency is important for ensuring that the signal from Firefly luciferase is sufficiently quenched before detecting Renilla luciferase, preventing signal overlap and ensuring accurate dual luciferase measurements. On the other hand, auto-luminescence refers to the background luminescence from Renilla luciferase in the absence of substrate activation.
  • Compatibility and Performance Assessment of the GenieColor Mycoplasma Detection Kit

To confirm the GenieColor Mycoplasma Detection kit (MORV0013) broad applicability and robustness across various laboratory setups, this report evaluates its compatibility with multiple conditions, including reaction instruments, temperature ranges, prolonged reaction times, different cell types, and culture media with serum.

3D Organoid Cell Viability Assay: Assessing Environmental Stress on BENOs for Live Delivery

To explore the possibility of delivering the BENO model alive, an evaluation of its viability resulting after a week of culture in the different mock-shipping conditions was carried out.
