The SMC6 Antibody (PAC01654) is a high-quality polyclonal antibody designed for research involving the SMC6 protein, a key component of the structural maintenance of chromosomes (SMC) complex. This antibody, produced in rabbits, is highly specific and reacts with human samples, making it an ideal tool for Western blot applications. The SMC6 protein plays a critical role in chromosome condensation, DNA repair, and genome stability. Its involvement in these essential cellular processes makes it a valuable target for studying various diseases, including cancer and genetic disorders. By enabling the detection and analysis of the SMC6 protein in different cell types, this antibody provides researchers with valuable insights into the function and regulation of the SMC complex.
With its superior specificity and reactivity, the SMC6 Antibody (PAC01654) is a valuable tool for researchers in the fields of genetics, cell biology, and cancer research. Its ability to accurately detect the SMC6 protein in human samples makes it an essential component of studies aimed at understanding the role of the SMC complex in chromatin organization, DNA repair, and genomic stability.

IHC image of PACO61654 diluted at 1:400 and staining in paraffin-embedded human testis tissue performed on a Leica BondTM system. After dewaxing and hydration, antigen retrieval was mediated by high pressure in a citrate buffer (pH 6.0). Section was blocked with 10% normal goat serum 30min at RT. Then primary antibody (1% BSA) was incubated at 4°C overnight. The primary is detected by a biotinylated secondary antibody and visualized using an HRP conjugated SP system.
Background:
Core component of the SMC5-SMC6 complex, a complex involved in DNA double-strand breaks by homologous recombination. The complex may promote sister chromatid homologous recombination by recruiting the SMC1-SMC3 cohesin complex to double-strand breaks. The complex is required for telomere maintenance via recombination in ALT (alternative lengthening of telomeres) cell lines and mediates sumoylation of shelterin complex (telosome) components which is proposed to lead to shelterin complex disassembly in ALT-associated PML bodies (APBs). Required for recruitment of telomeres to PML nuclear bodies. SMC5-SMC6 complex may prevent transcription of episomal DNA, such as circular viral DNA genome.
