The SKP1 Polyclonal Antibody (CAB12518) is a valuable tool for research involving SKP1, a critical component of the SCF (Skp1-Cullin-F-box) E3 ubiquitin ligase complex. This antibody, raised in rabbits, is highly specific and reactive with human samples, making it well-suited for use in Western blot applications. By binding to the SKP1 protein, this antibody enables accurate detection and analysis in various cell types, offering insights into the regulation of protein degradation and cell cycle progression.
SKP1 plays a pivotal role in the ubiquitin-proteasome pathway, governing the targeted degradation of specific proteins to control various cellular processes. Its involvement in protein turnover and regulation makes it a key target for research in areas such as cell biology, cancer biology, and drug development. Understanding the function and regulation of SKP1 can provide valuable insights into disease mechanisms and potential therapeutic targets.

This gene encodes a component of SCF complexes, which are composed of this protein, cullin 1, a ring-box protein, and one member of the F-box family of proteins. This protein binds directly to the F-box motif found in F-box proteins. SCF complexes are involved in the regulated ubiquitination of specific protein substrates, which targets them for degradation by the proteosome. Specific F-box proteins recognize different target protein(s), and many specific SCF substrates have been identified including regulators of cell cycle progression and development. Studies have also characterized the protein as an RNA polymerase II elongation factor. Alternative splicing of this gene results in two transcript variants. A related pseudogene has been identified on chromosome 7.
