The NAGS Polyclonal Antibody (CAB12086) is a valuable tool for researchers studying N-acetylglutamate synthase (NAGS), an enzyme involved in the urea cycle and amino acid metabolism. This antibody, produced in rabbits, is highly specific for detecting NAGS in human samples and has been validated for use in Western blot applications.NAGS plays a crucial role in the production of carbamoyl phosphate, a key intermediate in the urea cycle that helps remove toxic ammonia from the body. Dysregulation of NAGS activity has been linked to urea cycle disorders and hyperammonemia, making it an important target for understanding metabolic pathways and potential therapeutic interventions.
By using the NAGS Polyclonal Antibody, researchers can explore the expression and function of NAGS in various tissues and cell types, providing insights into its role in metabolic processes and disease pathology. This antibody is a valuable tool for advancing research in areas such as genetics, biochemistry, and metabolic disorders.

The N-acetylglutamate synthase gene encodes a mitochondrial enzyme that catalyzes the formation of N-acetylglutamate (NAG) from glutamate and acetyl coenzyme-A. NAG is a cofactor of carbamyl phosphate synthetase I (CPSI), the first enzyme of the urea cycle in mammals. This gene may regulate ureagenesis by altering NAG availability and, thereby, CPSI activity. Deficiencies in N-acetylglutamate synthase have been associated with hyperammonemia.
