The Mouse CD80 Monoclonal Antibody (PE/Cyanine5.5 Conjugated) 16-10A1 (AGEL0528) is a vital tool for researchers studying immune response modulation, particularly in the context of T cell activation and co-stimulation. This antibody, derived from hybridoma cells, specifically targets CD80, a critical co-stimulatory molecule involved in T cell activation and regulation of the immune response. With its PE/Cyanine5.5 conjugation, this antibody allows for fluorescent detection and analysis of CD80 expression in various cell types, providing valuable insights into immune cell interactions and signaling pathways. Its high specificity and sensitivity make it ideal for flow cytometry applications, enabling researchers to accurately characterize CD80-expressing cells in both healthy and disease states.
CD80, also known as B7-1, plays a pivotal role in regulating T cell activation and differentiation, making it a key target for immunotherapy research and drug development. Understanding the function and expression of CD80 is essential for elucidating its role in immune-mediated diseases such as autoimmunity and cancer, paving the way for innovative therapeutic strategies that target the immune system. By utilizing the Mouse CD80 Monoclonal Antibody (PE/Cyanine5.5 Conjugated) 16-10A1 (AGEL0528), researchers can delve deeper into the intricate mechanisms of immune regulation and potentially uncover novel therapeutic interventions for a range of immune-related disorders.

Background:
CD80 is a 60 kD highly glycosylated protein. It is a member of the Ig superfamily and is also known as B7-1, B7, and Ly-53. CD80 is constitutively expressed on dendritic cells and monocytes/macrophages, and inducibly expressed on activated B and T cells. The ligation of CD28 on T cells with CD80 and CD86 (B7-2) on antigen presenting cells (such as dendritic cells, macrophages, and B cells) elicits co-stimulation of T cells resulting in enhanced cell activation, proliferation, and cytokine production. CD80 appears to be expressed later in the immune response than CD86. CD80 can also bind to CD152, also known as CTLA-4, to deliver an inhibitory signal to T cells.
