The KDM6B Polyclonal Antibody (PAC018593) is a vital tool for researchers studying the function of the KDM6B protein, which plays a key role in epigenetic regulation. This antibody, generated in rabbits, is highly specific to human samples and has been validated for use in Western blot applications. By targeting the KDM6B protein, this antibody allows for the detection and analysis of KDM6B expression in various cell types, making it essential for studies in the fields of epigenetics, cancer research, and developmental biology.KDM6B, also known as lysine demethylase 6B, is a histone demethylase that catalyzes the removal of methyl groups from lysine residues on histone proteins, leading to alterations in chromatin structure and gene expression.
Dysregulation of KDM6B has been linked to various diseases, including cancer and developmental disorders, making it a promising target for therapeutic interventions. By understanding the role of KDM6B in epigenetic modifications, researchers can gain insights into disease mechanisms and potentially identify novel treatment strategies.

Background:
KDM6B (Lysine demethylase 6B) is a 1,679 amino acid, nuclear protein that contains one JmjC domain and belongs to the highly conserved JmjC domain-containing protein family. Functioning as a histone demethylase, JMJD3 uses iron and ascorbate as cofactors to demethylate dimethylated and trimethylated Lys-27 residues of Histone H3, thereby playing an important role in the modification of the histone code.
Synonyms:
lysine (K)-specific demethylase 6B
UniProt Protein Function:
JMJD3: Histone demethylase that specifically demethylates 'Lys- 27' of histone H3, thereby playing a central role in histone code. Demethylates trimethylated and dimethylated H3 'Lys-27'. Plays a central role in regulation of posterior development, by regulating HOX gene expression. Involved in inflammatory response by participating in macrophage differentiation in case of inflammation by regulating gene expression and macrophage differentiation. Interacts with TLE1. Component of the MLL4 complex, at least composed of MLL4, ASH2L, RBBP5, WDR5, and KDM6B. By 12-O-tetradecanoylphorbol-13-acetate (TPA) in myeloid leukemia cells. Belongs to the UTX family. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.Protein type: Oxidoreductase; EC 1.14.11.-Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 17p13.1Cellular Component: nucleoplasm; nucleusMolecular Function: histone demethylase activity; protein bindingBiological Process: cardiac muscle cell differentiation; endothelial cell differentiation; mesodermal cell differentiation; positive regulation of transcription from RNA polymerase II promoter
