The KCNA4 Polyclonal Antibody (CAB16390) is a valuable tool for researchers studying the KCNA4 protein, a voltage-gated potassium channel involved in regulating neuronal excitability. This antibody, produced in rabbits, has high specificity for human samples and has been validated for use in Western blot applications.By targeting the KCNA4 protein, this antibody allows for the detection and analysis of this important ion channel in a variety of cell types. This makes it ideal for research in neurobiology, specifically in the areas of neuronal signaling and neurological disorders. The KCNA4 protein serves a crucial function in the nervous system by controlling the flow of potassium ions through cell membranes, thereby influencing neuronal firing and communication.
Dysregulation of KCNA4 has been implicated in conditions such as epilepsy, ataxia, and migraine, making it a promising target for therapeutic interventions.By using the KCNA4 Polyclonal Antibody in their research, scientists can gain valuable insights into the role of this channel in normal neuronal function and disease states, ultimately contributing to the development of novel treatments for neurological disorders.

Potassium channels represent the most complex class of voltage-gated ion channels from both functional and structural standpoints. Their diverse functions include regulating neurotransmitter release, heart rate, insulin secretion, neuronal excitability, epithelial electrolyte transport, smooth muscle contraction, and cell volume. Four sequence-related potassium channel genes - shaker, shaw, shab, and shal - have been identified in Drosophila, and each has been shown to have human homolog(s). This gene encodes a member of the potassium channel, voltage-gated, shaker-related subfamily. This member contains six membrane-spanning domains with a shaker-type repeat in the fourth segment. It belongs to the A-type potassium current class, the members of which may be important in the regulation of the fast repolarizing phase of action potentials in heart and thus may influence the duration of cardiac action potential.
