The IPO7 Polyclonal Antibody (CAB18417) is a valuable tool for researchers studying IPO7, a nuclear import protein involved in importing proteins into the nucleus. Raised in rabbits, this antibody is highly specific for human samples and has been validated for use in Western blot applications. By binding to the IPO7 protein, this antibody allows for accurate detection and analysis in a variety of cell types, making it suitable for research in molecular biology, cell biology, and cancer biology.IPO7 plays a crucial role in the transport of proteins into the nucleus, a process essential for various cellular functions such as gene expression and cell signaling.
Dysregulation of nuclear import proteins like IPO7 has been implicated in diseases such as cancer and neurodegenerative disorders, making them attractive targets for therapeutic interventions. By studying IPO7, researchers can gain insights into the mechanisms underlying these diseases and potentially identify new therapeutic strategies for treatment.

The importin-alpha/beta complex and the GTPase Ran mediate nuclear import of proteins with a classical nuclear localization signal. The protein encoded by this gene is a member of a class of approximately 20 potential Ran targets that share a sequence motif related to the Ran-binding site of importin-beta. Similar to importin-beta, this protein prevents the activation of Ran's GTPase by RanGAP1 and inhibits nucleotide exchange on RanGTP, and also binds directly to nuclear pore complexes where it competes for binding sites with importin-beta and transportin. This protein has a Ran-dependent transport cycle and it can cross the nuclear envelope rapidly and in both directions. At least four importin beta-like transport receptors, namely importin beta itself, transportin, RanBP5 and RanBP7, directly bind and import ribosomal proteins.
