The GenieFluor Violet 450 Anti-Mouse F4/80 Antibody (CI:A3-1) is a highly specific tool designed for researchers studying immune cells, particularly macrophages in mouse models. This antibody, developed by Assay Genie, recognizes the F4/80 antigen, a well-known marker for mouse macrophages, making it an essential component for immunology and inflammation research.Macrophages are key players in the immune system, contributing to various physiological processes such as tissue homeostasis, immune responses, and inflammation. The F4/80 antigen, widely expressed on the surface of mature macrophages, serves as a reliable indicator for identifying and studying these important immune cells. The GenieFluor Violet 450 Anti-Mouse F4/80 Antibody (CI:A3-1) offers exceptional sensitivity and specificity in detecting F4/80-expressing macrophages, allowing for precise analysis and characterization of these cells in experimental settings.
Researchers can utilize this antibody in flow cytometry, immunofluorescence, and other immunological techniques to investigate macrophage functions, distribution, and interactions in diverse biological contexts. By using the GenieFluor Violet 450 Anti-Mouse F4/80 Antibody (CI:A3-1), researchers can deepen their understanding of macrophage biology and explore the roles of these vital immune cells in health and disease, paving the way for new insights and therapeutic strategies in immunology and related fields.

Background:
F4/80 is a 160 kD glycoprotein. It is characterized as a member of the epidermal growth factor (EGF)-transmembrane 7 (TM7) family. F4/80, also known as EMR1 or Ly71, has been widely used as a murine macrophage marker, which is expressed on the majority of tissue macrophages including peritoneal macrophages, macrophages in lung, gut, thymus and red pulp of spleen (but not on the macrophages located in T cell areas of the spleen, lymph node and Peyer's patch), Kuffer cells, Langerhans cells, and bone marrow stromal cells. F4/80 has also been shown on a subset of dendritic cells. The biological ligand of F4/80 has not been identified, but it has been reported that F4/80 is required for induction of CD8+ T cells-mediated peripheral tolerance.
