The FADS1 Polyclonal Antibody (CAB16306) is a crucial tool for researchers studying FADS1, an enzyme involved in the biosynthesis of omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids. This antibody is raised in rabbits and exhibits high reactivity with human samples, making it suitable for use in Western blot applications. By binding specifically to the FADS1 protein, researchers can accurately detect and analyze its expression in various cell types, offering valuable insights into lipid metabolism and its implications in health and disease.FADS1, or fatty acid desaturase 1, plays a crucial role in the conversion of dietary fatty acids into biologically active forms that are essential for numerous physiological processes, including brain development and inflammation regulation.
Dysregulation of FADS1 has been linked to various metabolic disorders, making it a promising target for research in fields such as nutrition, metabolism, and cardiovascular health. By studying the function of FADS1 using this polyclonal antibody, researchers can contribute to the development of novel therapeutic strategies targeting lipid metabolism-related disorders.

The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the fatty acid desaturase (FADS) gene family. Desaturase enzymes regulate unsaturation of fatty acids through the introduction of double bonds between defined carbons of the fatty acyl chain. FADS family members are considered fusion products composed of an N-terminal cytochrome b5-like domain and a C-terminal multiple membrane-spanning desaturase portion, both of which are characterized by conserved histidine motifs. This gene is clustered with family members FADS1 and FADS2 at 11q12-q13.1; this cluster is thought to have arisen evolutionarily from gene duplication based on its similar exon/intron organization.
