The COL25A1 Polyclonal Antibody (PACO07290) is a valuable tool for researchers studying COL25A1, a type XXV collagen that plays a role in extracellular matrix formation and tissue maintenance. This antibody, generated in rabbits, exhibits high specificity and sensitivity for detecting COL25A1 in human samples, making it ideal for use in various research applications, including Western blotting.COL25A1 is known for its involvement in the assembly and maintenance of extracellular matrix structures, particularly in tissues like the skin, cartilage, and blood vessels.
Dysregulation of COL25A1 has been linked to conditions such as fibrosis, arthritis, and cardiovascular diseases, making it a promising target for therapeutic interventions.By using the COL25A1 Polyclonal Antibody, researchers can gain valuable insights into the function and regulation of COL25A1 in normal physiological processes and disease states. This antibody enables precise and reliable detection of COL25A1 protein levels in different cell types, providing a deeper understanding of its role in tissue homeostasis and pathogenesis.

NCBI Summary:
This gene encodes a brain-specific membrane associated collagen. A product of proteolytic processing of the encoded protein, CLAC (collagenous Alzheimer amyloid plaque component), binds to amyloid beta-peptides found in Alzheimer amyloid plaques but CLAC inhibits rather than facilitates amyloid fibril elongation (PMID: 16300410). A study of over-expression of this collagen in mice, however, found changes in pathology and behavior suggesting that the encoded protein may promote amyloid plaque formation (PMID: 19548013). Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Dec 2011]
