The CD53 Polyclonal Antibody (CAB10079) is a high-quality research tool for studying CD53, a cell surface glycoprotein involved in immune cell activation and signaling pathways. Produced in rabbits, this antibody is highly specific for human samples and has been validated for Western blot applications. By binding to the CD53 protein, it allows for accurate detection and analysis in a variety of cell types, making it an essential tool for immunology and cancer research studies.
CD53 plays an essential role in immune cell function, particularly in regulating cellular responses and communication within the immune system. Its involvement in these processes highlights its potential significance in diseases such as cancer, autoimmune disorders, and inflammatory conditions. Research on CD53 is vital for uncovering its role in immune responses and developing targeted therapies for immune-related disorders.

The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the transmembrane 4 superfamily, also known as the tetraspanin family. Most of these members are cell-surface proteins that are characterized by the presence of four hydrophobic domains. The proteins mediate signal transduction events that play a role in the regulation of cell development, activation, growth and motility. This encoded protein is a cell surface glycoprotein that is known to complex with integrins. It contributes to the transduction of CD2-generated signals in T cells and natural killer cells and has been suggested to play a role in growth regulation. Familial deficiency of this gene has been linked to an immunodeficiency associated with recurrent infectious diseases caused by bacteria, fungi and viruses. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants.
