The Aquaporin-4 Polyclonal Antibody (CAB5665) is a valuable tool for researchers studying the Aquaporin-4 protein, a key component in the regulation of water transport in the central nervous system. This antibody, generated in rabbits, is highly specific for human samples and has been validated for use in Western blot and immunohistochemistry applications.Aquaporin-4 is mainly expressed in the brain and spinal cord, playing a crucial role in maintaining water balance within the central nervous system. Dysregulation of Aquaporin-4 has been linked to various neurological disorders, including cerebral edema, multiple sclerosis, and neuromyelitis optica.
By using the Aquaporin-4 Polyclonal Antibody, researchers can accurately detect and analyze the expression of Aquaporin-4 in different cell types, providing insights into its function and potential therapeutic targets. With its high specificity and sensitivity, the Aquaporin-4 Polyclonal Antibody is an essential tool for scientists working in neuroscience, neurology, and related fields, offering valuable insights into the role of Aquaporin-4 in neurological health and disease.

This gene encodes a member of the aquaporin family of intrinsic membrane proteins that function as water-selective channels in the plasma membranes of many cells. This protein is the predominant aquaporin found in brain and has an important role in brain water homeostasis. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been described for this gene. Additional isoforms, resulting from the use of alternative in-frame translation initiation codons, have also been described. Recent studies provided evidence for translational readthrough in this gene, and expression of C-terminally extended isoforms via the use of an alternative in-frame translation termination codon.
