The AP3M2 Polyclonal Antibody (PAC024956) is a valuable tool for researchers studying AP3M2, a key protein involved in intracellular protein trafficking. This antibody, produced in rabbits, is highly specific and reacts with human samples, making it suitable for a variety of research applications such as Western blotting. By targeting the AP3M2 protein, this antibody allows for accurate detection and analysis in different cell types, making it an ideal choice for studies in cell biology and molecular biology.
AP3M2 is a critical component of the adaptor protein complex 3 (AP-3), which plays a crucial role in sorting proteins to specific destinations within the cell. Dysregulation of AP3M2 has been associated with various diseases, making it a promising target for research in areas such as neurodegenerative disorders and lysosomal storage diseases. Understanding the functions and mechanisms of AP3M2 is essential for unraveling its role in cellular processes and developing potential therapeutic interventions.

Background:
Part of the AP-3 complex, an adaptor-related complex which is not clathrin-associated. The complex is associated with the Golgi region as well as more peripheral structures. It facilitates the budding of vesicles from the Golgi membrane and may be directly involved in trafficking to lysosomes. In concert with the BLOC-1 complex, AP-3 is required to target cargos into vesicles assembled at cell bodies for delivery into neurites and nerve terminals.

NCBI Summary:
This gene encodes a subunit of the heterotetrameric adaptor-related protein comlex 3 (AP-3), which belongs to the adaptor complexes medium subunits family. The AP-3 complex plays a role in protein trafficking to lysosomes and specialized organelles. Multiple alternatively spliced variants, encoding the same protein, have been identified.
