The Anti-Methyl HP1-gamma (CBX3) Polyclonal Antibody (CAB18812) is a valuable tool for research involving the HP1-gamma protein, a key player in chromatin structure and gene expression regulation. This antibody, generated in rabbits, is highly specific for detecting methylated HP1-gamma in human samples and is validated for use in various applications including Western blotting.HP1-gamma, also known as CBX3, is a member of the heterochromatin protein 1 family and is involved in the organization of chromatin structure and epigenetic regulation. The methylation of HP1-gamma plays a critical role in gene expression and chromatin dynamics, making it a promising target for studies in epigenetics and gene regulation.
By using the Anti-Methyl HP1-gamma (CBX3) Polyclonal Antibody, researchers can accurately detect and analyze the methylation status of HP1-gamma in different cell types, providing insights into its function and potential implications in various biological processes. This antibody is essential for investigators studying epigenetic mechanisms, chromatin remodeling, and gene expression regulation.

At the nuclear envelope, the nuclear lamina and heterochromatin are adjacent to the inner nuclear membrane. The protein encoded by this gene binds DNA and is a component of heterochromatin. This protein also can bind lamin B receptor, an integral membrane protein found in the inner nuclear membrane. The dual binding functions of the encoded protein may explain the association of heterochromatin with the inner nuclear membrane. This protein binds histone H3 tails methylated at Lys-9 sites. This protein is also recruited to sites of ultraviolet-induced DNA damage and double-strand breaks. Two transcript variants encoding the same protein but differing in the 5' UTR, have been found for this gene.
