The Anti-Cytokeratin 16 (KRT16) Antibody (CAB8690) is a high-quality antibody designed for research involving cytokeratin 16, a type I cytokeratin protein expressed in keratinocytes. The antibody, raised in rabbits, is highly specific and reactive with human samples, making it ideal for use in immunohistochemistry and Western blot applications. Cytokeratin 16 is involved in the development and maintenance of the skin, particularly in wound healing and hyperproliferative skin disorders. Its overexpression has also been linked to various cancers, including oral squamous cell carcinoma and breast cancer.
This antibody enables the detection and analysis of cytokeratin 16 in various cell types, providing valuable insights for research in dermatology, oncology, and regenerative medicine.Understanding the role of cytokeratin 16 in skin biology and cancer progression is crucial for developing targeted therapies and diagnostic tools. This antibody offers researchers a powerful tool for investigating the function and expression of cytokeratin 16, ultimately advancing our knowledge of skin diseases and cancer pathogenesis.

A synthetic peptide corresponding to a sequence within amino acids 1-100 of human Cytokeratin 16 (KRT16) (P08779).
The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the keratin gene family. The keratins are intermediate filament proteins responsible for the structural integrity of epithelial cells and are subdivided into cytokeratins and hair keratins. Most of the type I cytokeratins consist of acidic proteins which are arranged in pairs of heterotypic keratin chains and are clustered in a region of chromosome 17q12-q21. This keratin has been coexpressed with keratin 14 in a number of epithelial tissues, including esophagus, tongue, and hair follicles. Mutations in this gene are associated with type 1 pachyonychia congenita, non-epidermolytic palmoplantar keratoderma and unilateral palmoplantar verrucous nevus.
