Description
KRT5 Monoclonal Antibody [PAT12C4AT] (CPAB0639)
The KRT5 Polyclonal Antibody (CPAB0639) is a valuable tool for researchers studying keratin 5, a key protein in the cytoskeleton of epithelial cells. This antibody, generated in rabbits, is highly specific to human samples and has been validated for use in Western blot applications. By binding to the KRT5 protein, it allows for the detection and analysis of this important cytoskeletal component in various cell types.Keratin 5 is essential for maintaining the structural integrity of epithelial tissues and plays a crucial role in cell migration, proliferation, and differentiation.
Dysregulation of KRT5 expression has been associated with various skin disorders, including blistering diseases and skin cancers. By studying the function and regulation of KRT5, researchers can gain insights into the pathogenesis of these conditions and potentially identify new therapeutic targets.Overall, the KRT5 Polyclonal Antibody is a reliable tool for investigating the role of keratin 5 in cellular processes and disease mechanisms, making it a valuable asset for studies in dermatology, oncology, and regenerative medicine.

Background: | Cytokeratin 5 (KRT5) belongs to the keratin gene family. The type II cytokeratins are comprised of basic or neutral proteins which are arranged in pairs of heterotypic keratin chains coexpressed throughout differentiation of simple and stratified epithelial tissues. The type II cytokeratins are clustered in a region of chromosome 12q12-q13. The KRT5 type II cytokeratin is specifically expressed in the basal layer of the epidermis with family member KRT14. Mutations in these genes are linked with a complex of diseases termed epidermolysis bullosa simplex. |
