The GPT2 Polyclonal Antibody is a crucial tool for researchers studying GPT2, a key enzyme involved in amino acid metabolism and protein synthesis. This antibody, generated in rabbits, is highly specific to human samples and is validated for use in Western blotting and immunohistochemistry applications. By binding to the GPT2 protein, this antibody enables accurate detection and analysis in various cell types, making it essential for studies in biochemistry, metabolism, and cancer research.GPT2, also known as alanine aminotransferase 2, plays a vital role in the breakdown of amino acids and the production of energy in cells.
Dysregulation of GPT2 has been linked to various metabolic disorders and cancer progression, making it a promising target for therapeutic interventions. Research into the function and activity of GPT2 is essential for developing novel treatments for metabolic diseases and cancer, ultimately advancing our understanding of cellular metabolism and disease mechanisms.

This gene encodes a mitochondrial alanine transaminase, a pyridoxal enzyme that catalyzes the reversible transamination between alanine and 2-oxoglutarate to generate pyruvate and glutamate. Alanine transaminases play roles in gluconeogenesis and amino acid metabolism in many tissues including skeletal muscle, kidney, and liver. Activating transcription factor 4 upregulates this gene under metabolic stress conditions in hepatocyte cell lines. A loss of function mutation in this gene has been associated with developmental encephalopathy. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants.
