The XRCC5 Polyclonal Antibody (CAB13369) is a valuable tool for researchers studying the XRCC5 protein, which plays a key role in DNA repair processes. This antibody, produced through immunization of rabbits, is highly reactive with human samples and has been validated for use in Western blot applications. By binding to the XRCC5 protein, this antibody enables precise detection and analysis in a variety of cell types, making it ideal for investigations in genetics, oncology, and radiation biology.XRCC5, also known as Ku80, is a crucial component of the non-homologous end joining pathway, which repairs DNA double-strand breaks.
Dysregulation of XRCC5 has been linked to genomic instability and increased susceptibility to cancer. Therefore, studying the function of XRCC5 is essential for understanding the molecular mechanisms underlying tumorigenesis and potentially identifying novel therapeutic targets for cancer treatment. With its high specificity and sensitivity, the XRCC5 Polyclonal Antibody (CAB13369) is a valuable tool for researchers seeking to delve into the intricate mechanisms of DNA repair and uncover new insights into the role of XRCC5 in human health and disease.

The protein encoded by this gene is the 80-kilodalton subunit of the Ku heterodimer protein which is also known as ATP-dependant DNA helicase II or DNA repair protein XRCC5. Ku is the DNA-binding component of the DNA-dependent protein kinase, and it functions together with the DNA ligase IV-XRCC4 complex in the repair of DNA double-strand break by non-homologous end joining and the completion of V(D)J recombination events. This gene functionally complements Chinese hamster xrs-6, a mutant defective in DNA double-strand break repair and in ability to undergo V(D)J recombination. A rare microsatellite polymorphism in this gene is associated with cancer in patients of varying radiosensitivity.
