The WRN Polyclonal Antibody (CAB6855) is a valuable tool for researchers studying the Werner syndrome protein (WRN), a DNA helicase involved in DNA repair and maintenance. This antibody, produced in rabbits, exhibits high reactivity with human samples and is validated for use in Western blot applications. By binding to the WRN protein, researchers can effectively detect and analyze WRN levels in various cell types, making this antibody ideal for investigations in DNA repair mechanisms, aging, and cancer research. The WRN protein is essential for preserving genome stability and preventing genomic instability, making it a crucial player in maintaining cellular function and health.
Mutations in the WRN gene have been linked to Werner syndrome, a rare genetic disorder characterized by premature aging and an increased risk of cancer. By studying the function and regulation of WRN using this antibody, researchers can gain valuable insights into the mechanisms underlying DNA damage repair and potential therapeutic strategies for conditions associated with genomic instability.

This gene encodes a member of the RecQ subfamily of DNA helicase proteins. The encoded nuclear protein is important in the maintenance of genome stability and plays a role in DNA repair, replication, transcription and telomere maintenance. This protein contains a N-terminal 3' to 5' exonuclease domain, an ATP-dependent helicase domain and RQC (RecQ helicase conserved region) domain in its central region, and a C-terminal HRDC (helicase RNase D C-terminal) domain and nuclear localization signal. Defects in this gene are the cause of Werner syndrome, an autosomal recessive disorder characterized by accelerated aging and an elevated risk for certain cancers.
