The VIM Polyclonal Antibody (CAB0326) is a valuable tool for researchers studying the vimentin protein, a key cytoskeletal component expressed in mesenchymal cells. This antibody, raised in rabbits, exhibits high reactivity with human samples and is validated for use in Western blot applications. By binding to the vimentin protein, it enables precise detection and analysis in a variety of cell types, making it a useful resource for studies in cell biology, cancer research, and tissue remodeling.Vimentin is involved in numerous cellular functions, including cell migration, adhesion, and signaling, making it a crucial protein in processes like epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) and tumor invasion.
Its overexpression in cancer cells has been linked to metastasis and poor prognosis, highlighting its potential as a therapeutic target in oncology research. By investigating the role of vimentin using this antibody, researchers can gain valuable insights into the mechanisms underlying cancer progression and potential therapeutic interventions.

Recombinant fusion protein containing a sequence corresponding to amino acids 10-101 of human Vimentin (NP_003371.2).
This gene encodes a type III intermediate filament protein. Intermediate filaments, along with microtubules and actin microfilaments, make up the cytoskeleton. The encoded protein is responsible for maintaining cell shape and integrity of the cytoplasm, and stabilizing cytoskeletal interactions. This protein is involved in neuritogenesis and cholesterol transport and functions as an organizer of a number of other critical proteins involved in cell attachment, migration, and signaling. Bacterial and viral pathogens have been shown to attach to this protein on the host cell surface. Mutations in this gene are associated with congenital cataracts in human patients.
