The USB1 Polyclonal Antibody (CAB13229) is a essential tool for researchers studying the USB1 protein, a key enzyme involved in the biosynthesis of the glycolipid precursor used in the synthesis of glycosylphosphatidylinositol (GPI) anchors. This antibody is produced in rabbits and has been validated for use in Western blot applications, providing reliable and specific detection of USB1 in human samples. The USB1 protein is crucial for the proper functioning of GPI-anchored proteins, which play important roles in various cellular processes such as cell signaling, membrane trafficking, and cell adhesion.
Dysregulation of the GPI anchor biosynthesis pathway has been implicated in various diseases, including neurological disorders and congenital disorders of glycosylation. By enabling the detection and analysis of USB1, this polyclonal antibody is a valuable tool for researchers investigating the role of GPI anchoring in physiological and pathological processes. Its high reactivity and specificity make it a valuable asset for studies in molecular biology, cell biology, and genetics, providing insights into the complex mechanisms governing protein glycosylation and membrane protein function.

This gene encodes a protein with several conserved domains, however, its exact function is not known. Mutations in this gene are associated with poikiloderma with neutropenia (PN), which shows phenotypic overlap with Rothmund-Thomson syndrome (RTS) caused by mutations in the RECQL4 gene. It is believed that this gene product interacts with RECQL4 protein via SMAD4 proteins, explaining the partial clinical overlap between PN and RTS. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been noted for this gene.
