The Uroplakin 1B Polyclonal Antibody (CAB8157) is a valuable tool for research focused on uroplakin 1B, a protein involved in the formation of urothelial plaques in the bladder. This antibody, generated in rabbits, exhibits high specificity and sensitivity towards human samples, making it ideal for use in various experimental techniques, including Western blotting.Uroplakin 1B is a key component of urothelial plaques, which play a role in maintaining the integrity and barrier function of the bladder epithelium.
Dysregulation of uroplakin expression has been associated with bladder diseases, including bladder cancer and urinary tract infections. By targeting uroplakin 1B with this antibody, researchers can investigate its role in disease pathology and potentially identify novel therapeutic targets for bladder-related conditions.

The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the transmembrane 4 superfamily, also known as the tetraspanin family. Most of these members are cell-surface proteins that are characterized by the presence of four hydrophobic domains. The proteins mediate signal transduction events that play a role in the regulation of cell development, activation, growth and motility. This encoded protein is found in the asymmetrical unit membrane (AUM) where it can form a complex with other transmembrane 4 superfamily proteins. It may play a role in normal bladder epithelial physiology, possibly in regulating membrane permeability of superficial umbrella cells or in stabilizing the apical membrane through AUM/cytoskeletal interactions. The use of alternate polyadenylation sites has been found for this gene.
