The UPF1 Polyclonal Antibody (CAB13541) is a vital tool for researchers studying UPF1, a protein involved in mRNA surveillance and nonsense-mediated mRNA decay. This antibody, produced in rabbits, demonstrates high reactivity with human samples and has been validated for use in Western blot applications. By binding to UPF1, this antibody allows for the precise detection and analysis of UPF1 expression in a variety of cell types, making it ideal for investigations in molecular biology and RNA metabolism.
UPF1 is a key player in maintaining the integrity of the cellular transcriptome by identifying and degrading aberrant mRNAs. Dysregulation of UPF1 activity can lead to the accumulation of defective transcripts, potentially contributing to genetic diseases and cancer progression. The UPF1 Polyclonal Antibody offers researchers a powerful tool to unravel the intricate mechanisms of mRNA quality control and explore the therapeutic potential of targeting UPF1 in disease intervention.

This gene encodes a protein that is part of a post-splicing multiprotein complex involved in both mRNA nuclear export and mRNA surveillance. mRNA surveillance detects exported mRNAs with truncated open reading frames and initiates nonsense-mediated mRNA decay (NMD). When translation ends upstream from the last exon-exon junction, this triggers NMD to degrade mRNAs containing premature stop codons. This protein is located only in the cytoplasm. When translation ends, it interacts with the protein that is a functional homolog of yeast Upf2p to trigger mRNA decapping. Use of multiple polyadenylation sites has been noted for this gene. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants.
