The UNG Polyclonal Antibody (CAB1261) offered by AssayGenie is specifically designed for research involving UNG, a key enzyme involved in DNA repair and replication processes. UNG, also known as Uracil-DNA Glycosylase, plays a crucial role in removing uracil from DNA, ensuring the integrity of genetic material.Raised in rabbits, this antibody exhibits high reactivity with human samples and has been validated for use in various applications, including Western blotting. By binding to the UNG protein, this antibody enables the detection and analysis of UNG in different cell types, making it a valuable tool for studies in molecular biology and genomics research.
The importance of UNG in maintaining genomic stability makes it a target of interest in various fields, including cancer research, genetic disorders, and infectious diseases. Understanding the function and regulation of UNG can provide valuable insights into DNA repair mechanisms and potentially lead to the development of novel therapeutic strategies targeting UNG-related pathways. By utilizing the UNG Polyclonal Antibody (CAB1261), researchers can further explore the role of UNG in DNA metabolism and its implications in human health and disease.

This gene encodes one of several uracil-DNA glycosylases. One important function of uracil-DNA glycosylases is to prevent mutagenesis by eliminating uracil from DNA molecules by cleaving the N-glycosylic bond and initiating the base-excision repair (BER) pathway. Uracil bases occur from cytosine deamination or misincorporation of dUMP residues. Alternative promoter usage and splicing of this gene leads to two different isoforms: the mitochondrial UNG1 and the nuclear UNG2. The UNG2 term was used as a previous symbol for the CCNO gene (GeneID 10309), which has been confused with this gene, in the literature and some databases.
