The UMPS Polyclonal Antibody (CAB13251) is a valuable tool for researchers studying the uridine monophosphate synthase (UMPS) protein. This antibody, produced in rabbits, exhibits high reactivity with human samples and has been validated for use in Western blot applications. By specifically binding to the UMPS protein, this antibody enables precise detection and analysis in various cell types, making it an ideal choice for studies in fields such as biochemistry and molecular biology.UMPS is an essential enzyme involved in the de novo biosynthesis of pyrimidine nucleotides, vital for DNA and RNA synthesis in cells.
Dysregulation of UMPS has been implicated in various diseases, including cancer, metabolic disorders, and neurological conditions. As such, understanding the function and regulation of UMPS is crucial for uncovering potential therapeutic targets for these diseases.Overall, the UMPS Polyclonal Antibody (CAB13251) offers researchers a reliable tool for investigating the role of UMPS in cellular processes and disease pathology, providing valuable insights for drug discovery and biomedical research.

This gene encodes a uridine 5'-monophosphate synthase. The encoded protein is a bifunctional enzyme that catalyzes the final two steps of the de novo pyrimidine biosynthetic pathway. The first reaction is carried out by the N-terminal enzyme orotate phosphoribosyltransferase which converts orotic acid to orotidine-5'-monophosphate. The terminal reaction is carried out by the C-terminal enzyme OMP decarboxylase which converts orotidine-5'-monophosphate to uridine monophosphate. Defects in this gene are the cause of hereditary orotic aciduria. Alternate splicing results in multiple transcript variants.
