The UCP1 Polyclonal Antibody (CAB5857) is a highly specific tool for research involving the uncoupling protein 1 (UCP1), a key protein involved in thermogenesis and energy expenditure in brown adipose tissue. This antibody, generated in rabbits, exhibits strong reactivity with human, mouse, and rat samples, and has been validated for use in various applications, including Western blot and immunohistochemistry.UCP1 is a mitochondrial protein that plays a crucial role in regulating energy metabolism and heat production in brown fat cells. By targeting UCP1, researchers can investigate its function in thermogenesis, lipid metabolism, and overall energy balance.
This antibody enables the detection and analysis of UCP1 expression in different cell types and tissues, making it an essential tool for studies in metabolic diseases, obesity, and energy homeostasis.Understanding the mechanisms by which UCP1 influences energy expenditure and metabolic pathways is essential for developing targeted therapies for metabolic disorders and obesity-related conditions. The UCP1 Polyclonal Antibody provides researchers with a reliable tool to investigate the physiological roles of UCP1 and its potential as a therapeutic target in metabolic diseases.

Mitochondrial uncoupling proteins (UCP) are members of the family of mitochondrial anion carrier proteins (MACP). UCPs separate oxidative phosphorylation from ATP synthesis with energy dissipated as heat, also referred to as the mitochondrial proton leak. UCPs facilitate the transfer of anions from the inner to the outer mitochondrial membrane and the return transfer of protons from the outer to the inner mitochondrial membrane. They also reduce the mitochondrial membrane potential in mammalian cells. Tissue specificity occurs for the different UCPs and the exact methods of how UCPs transfer H+/OH- are not known. UCPs contain the three homologous protein domains of MACPs. This gene is expressed only in brown adipose tissue, a specialized tissue which functions to produce heat.
