The TYR Polyclonal Antibody (CAB16993) is a valuable tool for research involving TYR, an enzyme essential for the biosynthesis of melanin. This antibody, raised in rabbits, demonstrates high reactivity with human samples and is validated for use in various applications, including Western blotting. It specifically binds to the TYR protein, enabling its accurate detection and analysis in different cell types, making it ideal for studies in dermatology, pigmentation disorders, and melanoma research.
TYR plays a crucial role in melanogenesis, the process of melanin production, and its dysfunction is associated with various skin conditions and disorders. Understanding the regulation and activity of TYR is essential for developing targeted therapies for conditions related to pigmentary disorders and skin cancers. The TYR Polyclonal Antibody provides researchers with a reliable tool for investigating the function and expression of TYR in different biological contexts.

The enzyme encoded by this gene catalyzes the first 2 steps, and at least 1 subsequent step, in the conversion of tyrosine to melanin. The enzyme has both tyrosine hydroxylase and dopa oxidase catalytic activities, and requires copper for function. Mutations in this gene result in oculocutaneous albinism, and nonpathologic polymorphisms result in skin pigmentation variation. The human genome contains a pseudogene similar to the 3' half of this gene.
