The TYMS Polyclonal Antibody (CAB10441) is an essential tool for research focused on thymidylate synthase (TYMS), an enzyme involved in DNA synthesis and cell proliferation. This antibody, produced in rabbits, demonstrates high reactivity with human samples and is validated for use in Western blot applications. By binding specifically to TYMS, researchers can detect and analyze the enzyme in various cell types, making it ideal for studies in cancer biology, drug development, and personalized medicine.TYMS is a key target in cancer treatment, as its overexpression has been linked to resistance to chemotherapy and poor patient outcomes.
By studying the expression and activity of TYMS, researchers can gain valuable insights into the mechanisms of drug resistance and potential therapeutic strategies to enhance treatment efficacy. The TYMS Polyclonal Antibody is a valuable tool for investigating TYMS function and regulation in cancer cells, paving the way for personalized treatment approaches and improved patient outcomes.

Thymidylate synthase catalyzes the methylation of deoxyuridylate to deoxythymidylate using, 10-methylenetetrahydrofolate (methylene-THF) as a cofactor. This function maintains the dTMP (thymidine-5-prime monophosphate) pool critical for DNA replication and repair. The enzyme has been of interest as a target for cancer chemotherapeutic agents. It is considered to be the primary site of action for 5-fluorouracil, 5-fluoro-2-prime-deoxyuridine, and some folate analogs. Expression of this gene and that of a naturally occurring antisense transcript, mitochondrial enolase superfamily member 1 (GeneID:55556), vary inversely when cell-growth progresses from late-log to plateau phase. Polymorphisms in this gene may be associated with etiology of neoplasia, including breast cancer, and response to chemotherapy.
