The TJP1 Polyclonal Antibody (CAB0659) is a valuable tool for researchers studying TJP1, also known as tight junction protein 1, which plays a crucial role in maintaining the integrity of epithelial and endothelial barriers. TJP1 is involved in cell adhesion and signaling, as well as regulating the permeability of tight junctions in various tissues. This antibody, raised in rabbits, exhibits high reactivity with human samples and has been validated for use in Western blot applications. By binding to the TJP1 protein, researchers can detect and analyze its expression in different cell types, providing insights into its function in biological processes such as cell junction formation and barrier function.
The TJP1 Polyclonal Antibody is particularly relevant for studies in the fields of cell biology, epithelial biology, and cancer research, as dysregulation of TJP1 has been implicated in various diseases including cancer metastasis and inflammatory disorders. By understanding the roles of TJP1 in these pathological processes, researchers can potentially develop targeted therapies aimed at restoring barrier function and preventing disease progression.

This gene encodes a member of the membrane-associated guanylate kinase (MAGUK) family of proteins, and acts as a tight junction adaptor protein that also regulates adherens junctions. Tight junctions regulate the movement of ions and macromolecules between endothelial and epithelial cells. The multidomain structure of this scaffold protein, including a postsynaptic density 95/disc-large/zona occludens (PDZ) domain, a Src homology (SH3) domain, a guanylate kinase (GuK) domain and unique (U) motifs all help to co-ordinate binding of transmembrane proteins, cytosolic proteins, and F-actin, which are required for tight junction function. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms.
