The TIMP2 Polyclonal Antibody (CAB1558) is a valuable tool for researchers studying Tissue Inhibitor of Metalloproteinase 2 (TIMP2), a protein involved in extracellular matrix remodeling and cell growth regulation. This antibody, produced in rabbits, exhibits high reactivity with human samples and has been specifically validated for use in Western blot applications.TIMP2 plays a crucial role in inhibiting matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs), enzymes that degrade the extracellular matrix and are involved in various physiological and pathological processes, including cancer metastasis and tissue remodeling. By binding to TIMP2, this antibody allows for the detection and analysis of TIMP2 expression in different cell types, making it an essential tool for studies in cancer biology, tissue regeneration, and cardiovascular research.
With its potential implications in disease progression and therapeutic interventions, understanding the function and regulation of TIMP2 is essential for developing targeted therapies for diseases such as cancer, cardiovascular disorders, and fibrosis. The TIMP2 Polyclonal Antibody (CAB1558) provides researchers with a reliable means to investigate the role of TIMP2 in these processes, furthering our understanding of its mechanisms and potential therapeutic applications.

This gene is a member of the TIMP gene family. The proteins encoded by this gene family are natural inhibitors of the matrix metalloproteinases, a group of peptidases involved in degradation of the extracellular matrix. In addition to an inhibitory role against metalloproteinases, the encoded protein has a unique role among TIMP family members in its ability to directly suppress the proliferation of endothelial cells. As a result, the encoded protein may be critical to the maintenance of tissue homeostasis by suppressing the proliferation of quiescent tissues in response to angiogenic factors, and by inhibiting protease activity in tissues undergoing remodelling of the extracellular matrix.
