The TGM2 Polyclonal Antibody (CAB0981) is a vital tool for researchers studying transglutaminase 2 (TGM2), a multifunctional enzyme implicated in various physiological processes. This antibody, generated in rabbits, demonstrates high reactivity with human samples and is validated for use in Western blot applications. Its specificity for TGM2 enables accurate detection and analysis in a variety of cell types, making it ideal for investigations in the fields of cell biology, biochemistry, and disease research.
TGM2, also known as tissue transglutaminase, is involved in numerous biological functions such as cell adhesion, migration, and apoptosis. Dysregulation of TGM2 has been linked to several pathologies including cancer, neurodegenerative disorders, and fibrosis. Therefore, elucidating the role of TGM2 through targeted research using this antibody is essential for advancing our understanding of these diseases and potentially identifying novel therapeutic strategies.

Transglutaminases are enzymes that catalyze the crosslinking of proteins by epsilon-gamma glutamyl lysine isopeptide bonds. While the primary structure of transglutaminases is not conserved, they all have the same amino acid sequence at their active sites and their activity is calcium-dependent. The protein encoded by this gene acts as a monomer, is induced by retinoic acid, and appears to be involved in apoptosis. Finally, the encoded protein is the autoantigen implicated in celiac disease. Two transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene.
