The Serotransferrin Polyclonal Antibody (CAB1448) is specially designed for research focusing on serotransferrin, a multifunctional glycoprotein involved in iron transport and immune response regulation. This antibody, raised in rabbits, exhibits high reactivity with human samples and has been validated for use in various applications, including Western blotting.Serotransferrin, also known as transferrin, plays a crucial role in iron metabolism and immune system function. It acts as an iron transporter, aiding in the delivery of iron to cells, and also serves as a modulator of immune responses. The antibody specifically binds to serotransferrin, facilitating its detection and analysis in a variety of cell types.
Research involving serotransferrin is important for understanding its role in diseases related to iron metabolism, immune dysregulation, and inflammation. By studying the function of serotransferrin, researchers can gain insights into potential therapeutic targets for conditions such as anemia, infections, and inflammatory disorders. Overall, the Serotransferrin Polyclonal Antibody is a valuable tool for investigating the complex roles of serotransferrin in health and disease.

This gene encodes a glycoprotein with an approximate molecular weight of 76.5 kDa. It is thought to have been created as a result of an ancient gene duplication event that led to generation of homologous C and N-terminal domains each of which binds one ion of ferric iron. The function of this protein is to transport iron from the intestine, reticuloendothelial system, and liver parenchymal cells to all proliferating cells in the body. This protein may also have a physiologic role as granulocyte/pollen-binding protein (GPBP) involved in the removal of certain organic matter and allergens from serum.
