The TDG Polyclonal Antibody (CAB1262) is a valuable tool for researchers studying TDG, a key enzyme involved in DNA demethylation processes. This antibody, produced in rabbits, has high reactivity with human samples and has been validated for use in Western blot applications. By binding specifically to the TDG protein, this antibody enables detection and analysis in a variety of cell types, making it an excellent choice for studies in epigenetics, cancer research, and DNA repair mechanisms.
TDG plays a crucial role in maintaining genomic stability and regulating gene expression by actively removing methyl groups from DNA. Dysregulation of TDG has been linked to various diseases, including cancer and neurodevelopmental disorders, making it an attractive target for therapeutic interventions. Understanding the function and activity of TDG is essential for developing treatments that target epigenetic modifications and gene expression patterns associated with these conditions.

Recombinant fusion protein containing a sequence corresponding to amino acids 1-160 of human TDG (NP_003202.3).
The protein encoded by this gene belongs to the TDG/mug DNA glycosylase family. Thymine-DNA glycosylase (TDG) removes thymine moieties from G/T mismatches by hydrolyzing the carbon-nitrogen bond between the sugar-phosphate backbone of DNA and the mispaired thymine. With lower activity, this enzyme also removes thymine from C/T and T/T mispairings. TDG can also remove uracil and 5-bromouracil from mispairings with guanine. This enzyme plays a central role in cellular defense against genetic mutation caused by the spontaneous deamination of 5-methylcytosine and cytosine. This gene may have a pseudogene in the p arm of chromosome 12.
