The SUMF2 Polyclonal Antibody (CAB17671) is a valuable tool for researchers studying SUMF2, a critical enzyme involved in post-translational modification of proteins. This antibody, generated in rabbits, exhibits high reactivity with human samples and has been validated for use in Western blot applications.SUMF2 is known to play a key role in the activation of sulfatases, enzymes that hydrolyze sulfate esters. Dysregulation of sulfatase activity has been linked to various diseases, including lysosomal storage disorders and cancer.
The SUMF2 antibody binds specifically to the SUMF2 protein, allowing for precise detection and analysis in different cell types. The ability to accurately assess SUMF2 expression and activity is essential for understanding its function in disease pathogenesis and identifying potential therapeutic targets. By utilizing the SUMF2 Polyclonal Antibody, researchers can gain insights into the molecular mechanisms underlying sulfatase activation and its implications in various pathological conditions.

Recombinant fusion protein containing a sequence corresponding to amino acids 45-320 of human SUMF2 (NP_056226.2).
The catalytic sites of sulfatases are only active if they contain a unique amino acid, C-alpha-formylglycine (FGly). The FGly residue is posttranslationally generated from a cysteine by enzymes with FGly-generating activity. The gene described in this record is a member of the sulfatase-modifying factor family and encodes a protein with a DUF323 domain that localizes to the lumen of the endoplasmic reticulum. This protein has low levels of FGly-generating activity but can heterodimerize with another family member - a protein with high levels of FGly-generating activity. Alternate transcriptional splice variants, encoding different isoforms, have been characterized.
