The STOM Polyclonal Antibody (CAB6372) is a valuable tool for researchers studying STOM, a protein associated with stomatin, an important component of lipid rafts involved in various cellular processes. This antibody, produced in rabbits, exhibits high reactivity with human samples and has been validated for use in Western blot applications. By specifically binding to the STOM protein, this antibody enables the detection and analysis of STOM in a variety of cell types, making it ideal for investigations in cell biology and membrane research.
STOM, also known as stomatin-like protein 2, is known to play a role in regulating ion channels and maintaining cell membrane integrity. Its involvement in cellular processes such as cell migration and adhesion suggests its significance in physiological functions related to cell structure and function. Research on STOM has implications in understanding diseases related to membrane defects and ion channel dysregulation, making this antibody a valuable asset in studies related to membrane biology and cell physiology.

Recombinant fusion protein containing a sequence corresponding to amino acids 55-288 of human STOM (NP_004090.4).
This gene encodes a member of a highly conserved family of integral membrane proteins. The encoded protein localizes to the cell membrane of red blood cells and other cell types, where it may regulate ion channels and transporters. Loss of localization of the encoded protein is associated with hereditary stomatocytosis, a form of hemolytic anemia. There is a pseudogene for this gene on chromosome 6. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants.
