The ST3GAL5 Polyclonal Antibody (CAB7947) is a valuable tool for researchers studying ST3GAL5, an enzyme involved in the biosynthesis of sialylated glycoconjugates. This antibody, generated in rabbits, exhibits high specificity and sensitivity towards human samples, making it a reliable choice for experiments in Western blotting and other immunological assays. By targeting the ST3GAL5 protein, this antibody enables precise detection and quantification in a variety of cell types, making it a versatile option for studies in glycobiology and cancer research.
ST3GAL5, also known as GM3 synthase, is a key player in the regulation of cell surface glycosylation, impacting diverse biological processes such as cell adhesion, migration, and signaling. Its dysregulation has been implicated in cancer progression, immune response modulation, and neurological disorders, highlighting its potential as a therapeutic target. By understanding the molecular mechanisms governed by ST3GAL5, researchers can unravel new insights into disease pathology and develop novel strategies for intervention and treatment.

Ganglioside GM3 is known to participate in the induction of cell differentiation, modulation of cell proliferation, maintenance of fibroblast morphology, signal transduction, and integrin-mediated cell adhesion. The protein encoded by this gene is a type II membrane protein which catalyzes the formation of GM3 using lactosylceramide as the substrate. The encoded protein is a member of glycosyltransferase family 29 and may be localized to the Golgi apparatus. Mutation in this gene has been associated with Amish infantile epilepsy syndrome. Transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene.
