The SPTLC1 Polyclonal Antibody (CAB6750) is a highly specific antibody designed for research involving serine palmitoyltransferase long chain subunit 1 (SPTLC1), a key enzyme involved in sphingolipid biosynthesis. This antibody, generated in rabbits, exhibits high reactivity with human samples and has been validated for use in various applications, including Western blotting.SPTLC1 is essential for the de novo synthesis of sphingolipids, which play crucial roles in cell membrane structure, signaling, and modulation of cell death pathways. Dysregulation of sphingolipid metabolism has been linked to numerous diseases, including cancer, neurodegenerative disorders, and metabolic syndromes.
The SPTLC1 Polyclonal Antibody enables the detection and analysis of SPTLC1 protein levels in different cell types, allowing for in-depth investigation into its role in various physiological and pathological processes. In summary, the SPTLC1 Polyclonal Antibody is a valuable tool for researchers interested in studying sphingolipid metabolism, lipid signaling pathways, and the potential therapeutic implications of targeting SPTLC1 in disease interventions. Its high specificity and reactivity make it an ideal choice for immunology, cancer research, and lipid biology studies.

This gene encodes a member of the class-II pyridoxal-phosphate-dependent aminotransferase family. The encoded protein is the long chain base subunit 1 of serine palmitoyltransferase. Serine palmitoyltransferase converts L-serine and palmitoyl-CoA to 3-oxosphinganine with pyridoxal 5'-phosphate and is the key enzyme in sphingolipid biosynthesis. Mutations in this gene were identified in patients with hereditary sensory neuropathy type 1. Alternatively spliced variants encoding different isoforms have been identified. Pseudogenes of this gene have been defined on chromosomes 1, 6, 10, and 13.
