The SORD Polyclonal Antibody (CAB2118) is a valuable tool for researchers studying SORD, a protein involved in the regulation of cellular metabolism. This antibody, produced in rabbits, is highly specific for human samples and has been validated for use in Western blot applications. By targeting the SORD protein, this antibody allows for the detection and analysis of SORD levels in various cell types, making it ideal for studies in biochemistry and metabolic research.SORD, also known as sorbitol dehydrogenase, plays a crucial role in the breakdown of sorbitol and other sugar alcohols in the body. Dysregulation of SORD activity has been linked to conditions such as diabetes, diabetic complications, and metabolic disorders.
By studying the function of SORD, researchers can gain insights into the mechanisms underlying these diseases and potentially identify new therapeutic targets.Overall, the SORD Polyclonal Antibody (CAB2118) is a valuable tool for researchers investigating the role of SORD in cellular metabolism and its implications for human health. Its high specificity and reliability make it a trusted resource for studies aiming to understand the molecular mechanisms governing metabolic processes.

Recombinant fusion protein containing a sequence corresponding to amino acids 145-300 of human Sorbitol Dehydrogenase (NP_003095.2).
Sorbitol dehydrogenase (SORD; EC 1.1.1.14) catalyzes the interconversion of polyols and their corresponding ketoses, and together with aldose reductase (ALDR1; MIM 103880), makes up the sorbitol pathway that is believed to play an important role in the development of diabetic complications (summarized by Carr and Markham, 1995 [PubMed 8535074]). The first reaction of the pathway (also called the polyol pathway) is the reduction of glucose to sorbitol by ALDR1 with NADPH as the cofactor. SORD then oxidizes the sorbitol to fructose using NAD(+) cofactor.
