The Somatoliberin Polyclonal Antibody (CAB5343) is a vital tool for researchers studying the somatoliberin protein, also known as growth hormone-releasing hormone (GHRH) or growth hormone-releasing factor (GRF). This polyclonal antibody, raised in rabbits, is highly specific and reactive with human samples. It has been validated for use in various applications, including Western blotting, immunohistochemistry, and immunofluorescence.Somatoliberin is a key regulator of growth hormone release from the pituitary gland, acting as a stimulator for growth hormone secretion. Dysregulation of somatoliberin signaling has been implicated in various growth disorders, including acromegaly and gigantism, as well as in certain types of cancer that rely on growth hormone signaling for proliferation.
By using the Somatoliberin Polyclonal Antibody, researchers can gain valuable insights into the expression and function of somatoliberin in different tissues and cell types. This antibody enables the detection and analysis of somatoliberin in both normal and diseased states, providing a better understanding of its role in growth regulation and disease pathogenesis. Studies using this antibody may lead to the development of novel therapeutic strategies targeting the somatoliberin pathway for the treatment of growth disorders and certain types of cancer.

This gene encodes a member of the glucagon family of proteins. The encoded preproprotein is produced in the hypothalamus and cleaved to generate the mature factor, known as somatoliberin, which acts to stimulate growth hormone release from the pituitary gland. Variant receptors for somatoliberin have been found in several types of tumors, and antagonists of these receptors can inhibit the growth of the tumors. Defects in this gene are a cause of dwarfism, while hypersecretion of the encoded protein is a cause of gigantism. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants, at least one of which encodes a preproprotein that is proteolytically processed.
