The SOD1 Rabbit Monoclonal Antibody offered by AssayGenie (SKU: AG07113) is a cutting-edge research tool designed for the detection and analysis of Superoxide Dismutase 1 (SOD1) protein levels in various cell types. SOD1 is a critical antioxidant enzyme that plays a key role in protecting cells from oxidative stress, making it a key target for studies in oxidative stress, neurodegenerative diseases, and aging. This high-quality antibody, generated in rabbits, demonstrates high reactivity and specificity towards human samples, making it a reliable tool for Western blot applications. By specifically binding to SOD1, researchers can accurately measure the levels of this important enzyme in cell lysates, tissues, and other biological samples.
Furthermore, the SOD1 Rabbit Monoclonal Antibody is a valuable tool for scientists studying diseases such as amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), where mutations in the SOD1 gene have been implicated in disease pathogenesis. By better understanding the role of SOD1 in disease development, researchers can uncover new therapeutic targets and interventions for these devastating conditions.Overall, the SOD1 Rabbit Monoclonal Antibody is an essential reagent for researchers investigating oxidative stress, neurodegenerative diseases, and other related fields, providing accurate and reliable detection of SOD1 protein levels in a variety of experimental settings.

The protein encoded by this gene binds copper and zinc ions and is one of two isozymes responsible for destroying free superoxide radicals in the body. The encoded isozyme is a soluble cytoplasmic protein, acting as a homodimer to convert naturally-occuring but harmful superoxide radicals to molecular oxygen and hydrogen peroxide. The other isozyme is a mitochondrial protein. In addition, this protein contains an antimicrobial peptide that displays antibacterial, antifungal, and anti-MRSA activity against E. coli, E. faecalis, S. aureus, S. aureus MRSA LPV+, S. agalactiae, and yeast C. krusei. Mutations in this gene have been implicated as causes of familial amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. Rare transcript variants have been reported for this gene.
