The SMMHC/MYH11 Monoclonal Antibody is a powerful tool for studying the smooth muscle myosin heavy chain (SMMHC) protein, which plays a crucial role in smooth muscle function and contraction. This monoclonal antibody, produced through hybridoma technology, is highly specific to human SMMHC and is ideal for a variety of research applications, including Western blotting and immunohistochemistry.SMMHC, encoded by the MYH11 gene, is a key component of smooth muscle cells and is essential for their contractile function. Dysregulation of SMMHC has been implicated in a variety of smooth muscle-related diseases, including vascular disorders and various gastrointestinal conditions.
By using the SMMHC/MYH11 Monoclonal Antibody, researchers can accurately detect and analyze the expression levels of SMMHC in different tissues and cell types, providing valuable insights into its role in health and disease. This antibody is a valuable tool for researchers studying smooth muscle biology, vascular physiology, and diseases characterized by smooth muscle dysfunction. Its high specificity, sensitivity, and versatility make it an essential reagent for advancing our understanding of SMMHC and its implications in human health.

The protein encoded by this gene is a smooth muscle myosin belonging to the myosin heavy chain family. The gene product is a subunit of a hexameric protein that consists of two heavy chain subunits and two pairs of non-identical light chain subunits. It functions as a major contractile protein, converting chemical energy into mechanical energy through the hydrolysis of ATP. A chromosomal rearrangement involving this gene is associated with acute myeloid leukemia of the M4Eo subtype. Mutations in this gene are associated with visceral myopathy, megacystis-microcolon-intestinal hypoperistalsis syndrome 2, and familial thoracic aortic aneurysm 4.
