The SLC8A1 Polyclonal Antibody (CAB5583) is a valuable tool for researchers studying the SLC8A1 protein, also known as NCX1, which is a sodium/calcium exchanger involved in the regulation of intracellular calcium levels. This antibody is produced in rabbits and has been rigorously tested for specificity and sensitivity in Western blot applications, making it a reliable option for protein detection and analysis.SLC8A1 plays a crucial role in maintaining calcium homeostasis and is implicated in various physiological processes such as muscle contraction, neuronal signaling, and cardiac function.
Dysregulation of SLC8A1 has been linked to diseases including heart failure, neurological disorders, and cancer, highlighting its potential as a therapeutic target.By using the SLC8A1 Polyclonal Antibody, researchers can effectively track the expression and localization of SLC8A1 in various cell types and tissues, providing valuable insights into its function and potential implications in disease pathology. This antibody is an essential tool for those studying calcium signaling pathways, cardiovascular health, and related fields of research.

In cardiac myocytes, Ca(2+) concentrations alternate between high levels during contraction and low levels during relaxation. The increase in Ca(2+) concentration during contraction is primarily due to release of Ca(2+) from intracellular stores. However, some Ca(2+) also enters the cell through the sarcolemma (plasma membrane). During relaxation, Ca(2+) is sequestered within the intracellular stores. To prevent overloading of intracellular stores, the Ca(2+) that entered across the sarcolemma must be extruded from the cell. The Na(+)-Ca(2+) exchanger is the primary mechanism by which the Ca(2+) is extruded from the cell during relaxation. In the heart, the exchanger may play a key role in digitalis action. The exchanger is the dominant mechanism in returning the cardiac myocyte to its resting state following excitation.
