The SLC27A4 Polyclonal Antibody (CAB16102) is a research tool designed for scientists studying SLC27A4, a protein involved in fatty acid metabolism and lipid homeostasis. This antibody, produced in rabbits, exhibits high reactivity with human samples and is optimized for use in Western blotting applications. By specifically binding to the SLC27A4 protein, this antibody enables accurate detection and analysis in various cell types, making it well-suited for investigations in metabolic disorders, lipid metabolism, and related diseases.SLC27A4, also known as fatty acid transport protein 4 (FATP4), plays a crucial role in fatty acid uptake and transportation within cells, making it a key player in lipid metabolism and energy balance.
Dysregulation of SLC27A4 has been implicated in various metabolic disorders such as obesity, diabetes, and fatty liver disease. Therefore, studying the function and expression of SLC27A4 with this antibody can provide valuable insights into the mechanisms underlying these conditions and potentially pave the way for the development of novel therapeutic approaches targeting lipid metabolism.

This gene encodes a member of a family of fatty acid transport proteins, which are involved in translocation of long-chain fatty acids cross the plasma membrane. This protein is expressed at high levels on the apical side of mature enterocytes in the small intestine, and appears to be the principal fatty acid transporter in enterocytes. Clinical studies suggest this gene as a candidate gene for the insulin resistance syndrome. Mutations in this gene have been associated with ichthyosis prematurity syndrome.
