The SLC27A4 Polyclonal Antibody (CAB16101) is a valuable tool for researchers studying SLC27A4, a member of the solute carrier family 27 involved in fatty acid transport and lipid metabolism. This antibody, generated in rabbits, is highly specific to human samples and has been validated for use in Western blotting applications. By binding to the SLC27A4 protein, this antibody enables accurate detection and analysis in a variety of cell types, making it a valuable asset for studies in metabolism and lipid biology.
SLC27A4 plays a crucial role in fatty acid uptake and lipid storage, making it a key player in metabolic processes such as adipogenesis and energy homeostasis. Dysregulation of SLC27A4 has been linked to metabolic disorders like obesity, diabetes, and fatty liver disease, highlighting its importance as a therapeutic target. By deepening our understanding of SLC27A4 function, researchers can uncover new insights into metabolic diseases and potentially develop novel treatments to address these health challenges.

This gene encodes a member of a family of fatty acid transport proteins, which are involved in translocation of long-chain fatty acids cross the plasma membrane. This protein is expressed at high levels on the apical side of mature enterocytes in the small intestine, and appears to be the principal fatty acid transporter in enterocytes. Clinical studies suggest this gene as a candidate gene for the insulin resistance syndrome. Mutations in this gene have been associated with ichthyosis prematurity syndrome.
