The SLC25A19 Polyclonal Antibody (CAB12373) is a valuable tool for researchers studying SLC25A19, a mitochondrial carrier protein that plays a crucial role in cellular energy metabolism. This antibody, developed using rabbits as the host species, exhibits high reactivity with human samples and has been validated for use in Western blot applications. By specifically targeting the SLC25A19 protein, this antibody allows for reliable detection and analysis in various cell types, making it an essential component for studies in metabolism, mitochondrial function, and related research areas.
SLC25A19, also known as the mitochondrial thiamine pyrophosphate carrier, is involved in the transport of thiamine pyrophosphate, a key molecule in energy production, across the inner mitochondrial membrane. Mutations in the SLC25A19 gene have been linked to various metabolic disorders, making it a promising target for investigations into conditions like mitochondrial diseases and metabolic syndromes. By delving into the mechanisms underlying SLC25A19 function, researchers can gain insights into cellular energy regulation and potential therapeutic strategies for related disorders.

Recombinant fusion protein containing a sequence corresponding to amino acids 1-80 of human SLC25A19 (NP_068380.3).
This gene encodes a mitochondrial protein that is a member of the solute carrier family. Although this protein was initially thought to be the mitochondrial deoxynucleotide carrier involved in the uptake of deoxynucleotides into the matrix of the mitochondria, further studies have demonstrated that this protein instead functions as the mitochondrial thiamine pyrophosphate carrier, which transports thiamine pyrophosphates into mitochondria. Mutations in this gene cause microcephaly, Amish type, a metabolic disease that results in severe congenital microcephaly, severe 2-ketoglutaric aciduria, and death within the first year. Multiple alternatively spliced variants, encoding the same protein, have been identified for this gene.
