The SKP1 Polyclonal Antibody (CAB12505) is a vital tool for research involving SKP1, a protein component of the SKP1-cullin-F-box (SCF) complex that plays a key role in the regulation of cell cycle progression and signal transduction pathways. This antibody, raised in rabbits, is highly specific for human SKP1 samples and has been validated for use in Western blot applications. By binding to the SKP1 protein, this antibody enables precise detection and analysis in various cell types, making it an essential asset for studies in molecular biology and cancer research.
SKP1 is essential for the proper functioning of the SCF complex, which is involved in the targeted degradation of regulatory proteins that control cell division and growth. Dysregulation of SKP1 activity has been implicated in various diseases, including cancer, making it a promising target for therapeutic interventions. Understanding the mechanisms governing SKP1 function is crucial for developing targeted therapies that can effectively modulate cellular processes and potentially combat cancer progression.

This gene encodes a component of SCF complexes, which are composed of this protein, cullin 1, a ring-box protein, and one member of the F-box family of proteins. This protein binds directly to the F-box motif found in F-box proteins. SCF complexes are involved in the regulated ubiquitination of specific protein substrates, which targets them for degradation by the proteosome. Specific F-box proteins recognize different target protein(s), and many specific SCF substrates have been identified including regulators of cell cycle progression and development. Studies have also characterized the protein as an RNA polymerase II elongation factor. Alternative splicing of this gene results in two transcript variants. A related pseudogene has been identified on chromosome 7.
