The SIRT2 Polyclonal Antibody (CAB12575) is a valuable tool for researchers studying SIRT2, a protein involved in various cellular processes such as metabolism, cell cycle regulation, and stress response. This antibody, produced in rabbits, is highly specific for detecting SIRT2 in human samples and has been validated for use in Western blot applications. By targeting the SIRT2 protein, researchers can conduct detailed analysis and characterization of this important molecule in different cell types, making it ideal for studies in the fields of metabolism, aging, and neurodegenerative diseases.
SIRT2, a member of the sirtuin family of proteins, has been implicated in regulating key cellular functions, including gene expression, DNA repair, and metabolism. Its role in regulating processes linked to aging and disease has made it a promising target for research in conditions such as cancer, neurodegenerative diseases, and metabolic disorders. By investigating the function of SIRT2, researchers can gain valuable insights into the mechanisms underlying these conditions and pave the way for potential therapeutic interventions targeting this protein.

This gene encodes a member of the sirtuin family of proteins, homologs to the yeast Sir2 protein. Members of the sirtuin family are characterized by a sirtuin core domain and grouped into four classes. The functions of human sirtuins have not yet been determined; however, yeast sirtuin proteins are known to regulate epigenetic gene silencing and suppress recombination of rDNA. Studies suggest that the human sirtuins may function as intracellular regulatory proteins with mono-ADP-ribosyltransferase activity. The protein encoded by this gene is included in class I of the sirtuin family. Several transcript variants are resulted from alternative splicing of this gene.
