The SHMT1 Polyclonal Antibody (CAB12489) is a valuable tool for research involving serine hydroxymethyltransferase 1 (SHMT1), an enzyme involved in one-carbon metabolism and cellular proliferation. This antibody, generated in rabbits, is highly specific for human samples and has been validated for use in Western blot applications. By binding to the SHMT1 protein, this antibody enables accurate detection and analysis in a variety of cell types, making it an ideal choice for studies in the fields of metabolism, cancer biology, and drug development.SHMT1 is a key player in the folate pathway, which is crucial for nucleotide synthesis and DNA methylation.
Dysregulation of SHMT1 has been linked to various diseases, including cancer, neurological disorders, and developmental defects. Research into the function and regulation of SHMT1 is essential for understanding its role in these conditions and identifying potential therapeutic targets. The SHMT1 Polyclonal Antibody provides researchers with a reliable tool for investigating the physiological and pathological roles of SHMT1, paving the way for new insights and advancements in biomedicine.

Recombinant fusion protein containing a sequence corresponding to amino acids 285-444 of human SHMT1 (NP_683718.1).
This gene encodes the cytosolic form of serine hydroxymethyltransferase, a pyridoxal phosphate-containing enzyme that catalyzes the reversible conversion of serine and tetrahydrofolate to glycine and 5,10-methylene tetrahydrofolate. This reaction provides one-carbon units for synthesis of methionine, thymidylate, and purines in the cytoplasm. This gene is located within the Smith-Magenis syndrome region on chromosome 17. A pseudogene of this gene is located on the short arm of chromosome 1. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants.
